Right and Simon was very clearly talking about how the Nazis scapegoated the Jews in their rise and early years in power when it was uncertain to the world that genocide was the end goal. It’s an absolutely apt analogy.

The Nazi Platform in 1932 did NOT say, “We’re gonna round up all the Jews in Germany. Some of them, we’ll shoot. Some of them, we’ll gas. Some of them, we’ll work to death. All of them, we’ll starve, and the goal is that we kill every last one of them. Oh, and we’re gonna take over surrounding countries, and do the same thing with THEIR Jews. Vote Nazi!”
