I think I remember that story.
Iām not sure doubling our life expectancy would be a good idea, overall. I personally would not mind living to be 200 if I could remain healthy enough to be mobile and independent. Living a long life while being confined in a bed or an old folks home would definitely not be very appealing.
In fiction, the super-old generally seem to be healthy and well off financially. I doubt that would be true in real life, though.
My maternal grandmother used to tell a story about her father, where he was asked if he could live another hundred years, what would he live for? He allegedly answered āI want to live another hundred years to see what damn fool hats women are wearing.ā
