Right, I think Kavanaugh was going to be a finalist on any SCOTUS shortlist for a Republican President. But I think Trump definitely got the short of it from his advisers that Kavanaugh is a strong believer in protecting the executive and that probably is what sold him in the end. But anyhow what we’re seeing with Kavanaugh is how the GOP establishment is definitely just as messed up as Trump.

I’m reading Fear now (up to chapter 9), and Woodward captures the completely ad hoc nature of the Trump campaign and transition. I am quite sure Bannon was one of his main sources, because Bannon is portrayed as the guy who saved the Trump campaign from itself. Left to its own devices, the campaign would have imploded under Manafort and the rest of the “Island of the Misfit Toys,” as Bannon is quoted as saying.
