I voted for Obama because I found him to be the better candidate. Period.
Had McCain won the 2000 GOP nomination, I would have considered voting for him. Had I lived in Massachusetts in 2003, I might have voted for Mitt Romney for governor.
And nobody mentioned the role that White Affirmative Action played in the careers of people like Bush, McCain or Mitt Romney…
I always thought “folksy Texan” Bush downright laughable given his background. Though affecting the accent not so much given I knew people who moved to Houston from Pittsburgh and had the Texan accent within 4-5 years. (Though they could switch back into Pittsburghese when necessary.)
