The GOP had already become the party of business by then. And if both parties were involved in corruption at that time, that means that the GOP was definitely practiciing.

And reforming. That was also the party of Progressivism, much more than the Democrats. (It’s more true than not that the Republican party was the party of business from the beginning.)
