One of my patients was a ball turret gunner.

I had a Scoutmaster who was a B-24 tailgunner. The plane was shot up badly enough on one mission that he couldn’t crawl back through the tunnel to the main section of the plane. When they landed, the tail section FELL OFF just as the plane halted.
