There’s a difference between regulating what free adult people eat (which nobody does) and what foodstuffs sellers are allowed to sell. To conflate these two issues and present the latter as the former is a sophism.

I don’t know. Was anyone conflating them? I’m trying to come to a conclusion here. The point is that government can regulate the quality of food, safety, etc. But what the government can’t or should not do is regulate what is consumed once it passes that point.
