I agree. For awhile I’ve seen it as a few loose screws rattling around. But it appears that in some ways we’re seeing the fruits of an increasingly unified narrative that, against all objective evidence, is determined to redefine America’s history in William Bradford’s Puritan terms as a “shining city upon a hill” of dedicated white puritans where any counter narrative is either an aberration or a lie.

Any attempt to enact this will be an absolute disaster. The United States itself is predicated on the Enlightenment.

The ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence can’t even be expressed in pre-Enlightenment language.
