re: #14 Belafon

I did some searching, and with the Li-Ion batteries, leaving it charged for a long time initially is useful for the device containing the battery. Because these batteries are designed to keep a steady voltage, the detector needs to read the power off of the battery to be able to figure out how long it actually has. This is the “calibration” that the initial long charge is trying to provide. See the comments in the first answer in this: android.stackexchange.com.

Thanks. But I admit I am still a tad confused. I always fully charge the Li-Ion batteries to a full charge. To me that means allowing the battery to remain on the charger until the charger indicates it is fully charged. That is indicated by the flashing light going solid is it not?

What the battery store guy said was to go way beyond when the charge indicator light stops flashing. He said to do this for the very first time you charge the new battery…not to do it every time.

As I said the original battery (already in use) seems to be fully charged after about 2 hours if it has been run down to almost no charge left in it as shown when the camera gives me a ‘battery low” indication warning.

I just find no one saying to leave a fully charged battery on the charger for up to 10 hours more after the indicator light goes out… the first time it is ever charged.

I’d be worried about it heating up too much and ruining the battery or blowing it up.

I have found similar comments and recommendations to what you found. I have found nothing close to what this guy told me. I am thinking it may be magic woo.
