The Husband is out of ICU. Today is day 12 in the hospital. Instead of skin grafts, they are trying a wound vacuum for the next few days to promote healing and help shrink the wound some before deciding what the next step is. The necrotizing fasciitis is under control, the antibiotics seem to be doing their job. I still don’t know how much longer he’ll be here. I was told to be prepared for him to need at home recovery time of at least two months. What a nightmare. If you or someone you love is neglecting their diabetes management please gently slap the nonsense out of them. This mess is directly related to unmanaged type 2 diabetes. The Husband is now most likely going to be insulin dependent now because he was a stubborn brat about it. So unnecessary and stupid. Sigh.
