When I make mac and cheese from a box for my son, I like to ask if he wants to get used to the broke college student version with a can of tuna and a handful of frozen peas or green beans tossed into the mix. He doesn’t seem to think its a good idea.

I still make a one pot hotdish for myself of stovetop stuffing, canned chicken, a canned veggie and gravy. It’s not high cuisine but it’s easy, cheap and edible.

Mrs. Fish will take the noodles from several packs of ramen, cook them up with frozen vegetables, and cut up some chicken nuggets for protein. It was a quick and easy meal when we were newlyweds, and we still make it for nostalgia and because the kids love it.
