I have mixed feelings about free college for everyone.

Sure, free college made all the difference in the world to my family — but that’s because my parents went to college at a time when fewer than 25% of people did, and they needed it to prepare for Med school and Law school, but…

Building trades, health care and beauty and other personal care workers, 3/4 of restaurant staff, and another dozen or so of the highest-employment fields, a year of vocational school is plenty to make them good at their jobs. For retail workers or warehouse workers, high school should be enough.

Another 100K worth of education for EVERYBODY is probably not the most cost-effective way to improve people’s lives, or society at large.
