What’s even more disappointing to me is that Rubio, who proudly identifies as a Catholic, throws his own Catholic faith under the bus to appease to the anti-science willfully ignorant Protestants who make up so much of the GOP base. Catholics do not subscribe to the biblical version of creation so for Rubio to pimp for this shows he is ignorant of Church teaching, or just shamelessly pandering to stupid people.

Yep, that’s part of why I think he is pandering. Even some of the most conservative Catholics I know accept that the earth is 4.5 billion years old and don’t see Darwin’s theories as inconsistent with their religious beliefs. But the Christian fundamentalists who make up a lot of Rubio’s base on the other hand.
