Gingrich doesn’t seem like a “winning” type. He might bring some cons around, but his conservatism will also further push away the middle.

He also nullifies all of Trump’s (admittedly weak) attacks on Bill Clinton’s philandering, since Gingrich was secretly cheating on his wife the entire time he was leading the impeachment of Clinton for cheating. Strategically he’s probably the worst pick Trump could make, I’m guessing literally nobody else (except totally unacceptable lunatics like Palin) wanted the job.
