i threw in the ‘etc’ to mean the entire realm of science, the scientific method, math, physics, observation, induction, deduction, etc. the method of understanding and proof we’ve come to accept for now as the natural world.

There is an old scifi short story (do not recall title or author or the exact plot line) that takes place at the heat death of the universe: the intelligence of all sentient life resides in some type of computer and as the universe dies, the computer restarts it. Probably as realistic a supposition as any!
