My son watched one with me when he was 8 or 9, and that helped make him a agnostic. The story was about 3 people at the purely gates. One was a man that murdered and raped a 15 year old girl, one was the 15 year old girl, the other was a atheist that had spent his life saving millions of lives in the 3rd world.
The rapist murderer goes to heaven because he accepted Christ on the evening of his execution. The teen aged rape victim, and the atheist when straight to hell for not accepting Christ. That my kid could not accept from a merciful God.

While I am very hesitant to get into such topics here on LGF, this is sort of a challenge, and this is my reply (intended with much kindness, and believe me, I have no interest in “bible thumping” you, avanti):

It’s unfortunate no one was able to help him understand the basics of Christianity - primarily, we are all sinners and in need of a Savior. If we accept that Savior, He pays the penalty for our sin - no matter how vile, or how unforgivable our sin. God sacrificed His Son so that this would be possible for all of us.

There is nothing more merciful than that.
