re: #234 Kragar (Proud to be Kafir)

What if you’re pro oil in that you think we should be doing more to develop our own supplies?

It only means that you don’t know how the oil market works. Our own supplies do not exist. All oil is fungible and we were the ones who set up the market that way. Further the amount of oil that we have offshore is minuscule compared to the real producers. Drilling this stuff means that our smal contribution to the world oil market would mostly get eaten by China and could at best lower our own prices by a few cents per gallon for a few years untill depleted. On the other hand doing that drilling means investing billions in capital to do so, that could have been used to get off of oil and make actual productive energy sources at home that would lead to energy independence for real.

People realy should look at Denmark. They produce 21% of their energy from wind and are expanding the program. They created 200,000 jobs in Denmark with the program.

That is what actual energy independence looks like.

Anyone who tells you it can not be done is simply misinformed, talking out of their ass, or lying. However, it can not be done by drilling more oil and reinforcing the status quo.
