I agree with that statement but the scientific approach to problem solving is totally different than how politics work.

In science, you collect data, then make conclusions. In politics, you start with the conclusion, then seek out data that supports it.

Hopefully, science literate politicians, as long as they are in the majority, will be able to promote science research and base their policy decisions on understanding rather than misunderstanding.
