I hate Bannon, but I have to admit his strategy was correct. He could see Trump could win, taking the Trumpian attitude of “damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!” As Woodward describes it, every RNC operative, including Chris Christie and Rinsed Pubis, were convinced Trump was going to tank in the GE. If Woodward discusses the Russian tampering of the election, I am not up to that point yet, but he does describe the intelligence agencies’ briefing of Trump regarding their joint intel. He criticizes Comey’s decision to tell Trump about the Steele dossier and the pee tapes as idiotic, given Trump’s tendency to view everything as a personal attack. Trump focused on the Steele dossier only, and basically dismissed the security briefing as irrelevant.

I haven’t read Fear yet. Not going to any time soon since I’m exhausted by this WH. Maybe after Midterms.
