I don’t want to overstretch the Putin/Hitler comparisons, but all those ethnic Russian (up to 30 million) left stranded outside Russia after the breakup of the USSR are the equivalent of Hitler’s Sudentendeutschen and an ongoing pretext for making claims and demands.

And I do believe that Russia has a valid historical claim to Crimea, I just do not find that Putin’s use of military force to occupy it was justified because of it.
