I don’t think you can tell a difference between an MP3 and CD or higher bit rate file in earbuds.

You can with a nicer amp and speakers.

And if you have 50 years of loud music & much louder tanks & firearms in the army, you can’t tell the difference for squat except that my left ear has less high frequency loss than my right because you always pushed your headset up off your right ear to talk to others around the tanks.
