Early 60s America was no paradise but there was a lot of fun to be had. Practically anyone with a job could afford one of these cars, thanks to record high union membership.

Point was, my dad could afford to raise a family, buy a house and car and send his kids to college on a steelworker’s salary.

Those days are all but gone.
