and gave the pilots commercial astronaut wings. I’m pretty sure they’re going to change the definition back to the old Air Force 50 miles and abandon the Kármán line.

According to the WaPo article, the FAA calls anything above 50 miles “space.” So, they’re going with that definition. The pilots also qualify for astronaut wings.
