The Pharisees have rubbed all of us raw, whatever beliefs we have. That’s what we need to remember.

Please don’t use the word Pharisees for these scum. The Pharisees were a devout group of Jewish believers who disagreed with Jesus about details of worship and theology. The primacy of Torah and Mishnah (since both Pharisees and Jesus predated the Talmud) were taken for granted and the validity of arguing about their interpretation was understood. Unfortunately the authors of the Gospels had their own agendas and especially in John’s gospel, the disagreements become more important that the agreements and 2000 years of antisemitism got its start.

The Osteens, the Grahams, the Falwells of the world do not work within that context. They are hypocrites, not Pharisees who are devout but disagreed with. They are, at best, heritics in the sense that what they do is pretend to believe in Christianity while subverting the actual teachings of Christ with the heresy of inerrancy, Calvinism and Darby’s end times not to mention the idolatry of certainty and antisemitism.
