He does not want to announce it officially as he would otherwise be branded as a senile lame duck, but yes, it will be blown into a major (non-)scandal when he does finally announce that he is not campaigning again.

Don’t worry. The media is already laying ground work for economic insecurity argument against Harris. They’re already running articles in the NYT about how Trump’s white nationalist treasonweasels aren’t happy with Biden, and Biden isn’t yet in office. It’s only going to get worse from here.

Trump’s disastrous admin has wrecked so much of functioning govt that Biden will have to rebuild a cadre of qualified and competent professionals to do the jobs in a nonpartisan manner. Trump put loyalists in charge and moved to root out the professionals because they were standing in the way of his regressive and racist agenda.
