And then when that gun gets used in a crime, he’s now under a spotlight. Did he cross every t and dot every i? How did he miss that the guy he sold the gun to was “obviously” out of his mind? Why didn’t the background check catch that he was mentally ill? The guy flubbed the background check paperwork, why didn’t the dealer catch that?

This will make gun dealers very careful about crossing their t’s and dotting their i’s. Which you said they already have to do, under penalty of law.
