critical thinking skills.

and i would be super clear while going further: “reason” and “rational” do not mean “agree with me”. the way a lot of people toss it around. “if only you’d listen, or read this, you’d understand and you’d see the light.”

I don’t care about your politics or your political affiliations. It’s not your position or who you vote for. I dont care who you vote for. I care how you decide who and what to vote for.

it’s how you develop that position, how you make your evaluations and decisions. The process - the critical thinking, in gathering info, acceptance of what you hear and see, that is more of a window on who you are (and aren’t) than anything else

This, a million million times, this. I am always skeptical of anyone who can’t actually articulate a logic behind their position. It’s one of the reasons I don’t bother having political discussions (read: arguments) with most of my family any more. Their entire line of reasoning is: Republicans good, Democrats bad; doesn’t matter what the two parties actually believe (they’re always shocked when I point out that the official GOP position is no abortion ever and the right to discriminate against gay people), they are Team R all the way.
