The Attorney General of Alabama, back in that brief period where blacks and whites worked together there, was sued by the Klan when he started trying to prosecute the leader of the Birmingham 16th Street Church bombers. (Doug Jones prosecuted the others.) His response to their legal letter was to the point:

My response to your letter of February 19, 1976, is — kiss my ass.

There have always been such people in Alabama. Too few, though.
