The bright side for the Democrats is that the special election will be held concurrently with next year’s mid-term elections. It won’t be a special election in the sense it’s the only thing going.
And speaking of special elections, was listening to Friday’s With Friends Like These pod, Cox had Rick Wilson on again, he mentioned that polling on Alabama is pretty much impossible because nobody knows how to account for the Shy Jones Voter or the Shy Moore Voter. He basically said any result between Jones +5 and Moore +9 would not be surprising.
And yet, the fact remains that in a wide-open field with (at present) no popular favorite means the seat is very winnable by the GOP. The counterargument to “The governor is a Democrat” is “The legislature has a Republican majority.”
