My wingnut brother’s response is that he doesn’t care about Putin. It’s not that he necessarily has a favorable impression but he’s just not interested in him at all. He also believes that China is not going to overtake us because they have so many internal problems and, after all, we’re number one!

China has very few internal problems, other than the usual lack of free expression and ongoing government corruption and oppression. China’s government is playing 3-dimensional chess geopolitically and economically while Trump & Co are still playing Chutes & Ladders.
