If the GOP caucus is solid, meaning the confirmation is inevitable, then letting a couple Senators in tough battles in red states go is probably smarter. I’m actually worried about this fight not ending before the election. I’m afraid it would bring out their base more than ours, and I’m afraid it’s inevitable in any case. If the GOP loses the Senate, they’ll push through a warm body in the Lame Duck to avoid potentially losing a seat.

And what does “letting them go” really accomplish? Are there really that many “moderate” voters who will pass on a Democrat in a red state unless they do Trump’s bidding?
