For anyone looking to adventure right off the scale - or however you measure and rate films - take a look at Larry Clark’s work (“Kids”; “Ken Park”, etc.) You will be disturbed. Or shocked. Or enraged. Or whatever. They won’t leave you indifferent.

Over on the opposite extreme, the little-known but genial Guy Maddin from Winnipeg (“The Saddest Music in the World”; “Archangel”; “Brand Upon the Brain”; “My Winnipeg”; etc.)

Kids was great although harsh. Is that Saddest Music in the World movie the one about the beer jingle? I heard that was really good.
