They’re in a hell of a pickle, to be honest. Realistically, Article 50 could be revoked - but it would be political suicide to do so. Brexit could be delayed with agreement between the UK and the EU; but for how long? And what would happen in that interim?

This is all a giant clusterfuck, and no one can figure out a politically palatable way of disengaging from it. Little wonder Queen Elizabeth II has expressed “displeasure” at the state of affairs. And thanks to legislation passed in 2011, she no longer has the power to dissolve Parliament - which would mean new elections and a possible solution to the ongoing impasse.
