Serious question — why are conservatives impervious to facts?

An FB friend of mine from high school who calls himself a “constitutional conservative” posted that photo of the Jordanian king in camo that’s been making the rounds. The entire exchange went like this:

Him: “This is a leader…. One who would fight along side his countrymen.”

Me: “Actually, that photo is from last year. It’s not new.”

Him: “Who cares? He followed thru on his promise to execute any ISIS if harm came to his pilot. He followed thru on his word.”

Me: “Sure. But the photo is being used to suggest that he’s personally leading the charge. He’s not. It’s an older photo from a photo op.”

Him: “He’s doing more than Fearless Leader”

What. The. FUCK. Is the conservative need for a prick-waving tough guy image so important that facts are meaningless?
