Do they have working armour? Have they the spare parts, the maintenance crews, the ammunition to use them? The same questions apply for artillery.

I’ve no doubt they have mortars for mortars are much simpler weapons than artillery and armour but not much more than that.

If Daesh has aircraft those aren’t yet being used. I’ve not heard a single report about them. Not that they would last long. AWACS would pick them up before they rotated off the runway and there’d be an AMRAAM up their ass within five minutes. If Daesh hasn’t reported bombing people and the Allies haven’t reported any knockdowns after a year I’m inclined not to believe the Business Insider article.

My question stands; Why is Daesh considered an existential threat to The West when it can’t even reach us and it hasn’t the infrastructure to create a military that can do us any real harm?
