What got in the water in 1932? How was it that poor white people developed class consciousness? That saw Kansas lean socialist? Even the confederate states supported the New Deal (as long as it didn’t include black people). Coal miners unionized. Truck drivers unionized. How did so many become and stay so stupid? There have always been rich people controlling the media.

I can only assume that they started to grow affluent and take things for granted while the bosses kept working on convincing them that less regulation means more jobs
