I’ve got a copy of that too. It’s on my reading list (if I can ever find the time). I finally decided that I’d check the syllabi from various universities that offer polysci programs and pick the most common ones to try to get at least somewhat objective material. The thing is, it seems history is always being revised—I don’t mean like in the flat out lying wingnut manner, but rather in light of new knowledge. It’s aggravating.

Liberals try to make the stories of history reflect the actions of all parties in as accurate a way as possible. Conservatives value the message more than the accuracy so they look for stories with clear protagonist/antagonist roles that can be used to express their moral structure. We see this in the pressure on publishing books for Texas where certain historical characters are being removed or revised.
