The man’s no fool. He’s young, he’s respected in his party, and he would be forever radioactive to the base if he swooped into an election he could not, in any case, actually win.

Put your head down, try to divorce the house agenda from whichever gross nominee emerges from Cleveland, and (if you ever even want to) focus on 2020 or 2024.

That’s the part of #nevertrump that is never addressed: exactly what draftee would accept this mantle? It would need to be some sort of elder statesman who won’t be running for anything else ever again, and they pretty much already tried those in 2008 and 2012.
