They want us to fight each other too. We simply have to start running solid candidates from school boards to the White House. This is how conservatives won so much power, they’ve been playing a long game since at least the 70’s.

I grew up in an evangelical right wing end times Amway family. My parents were double diamond direct distributors in the early days of that company. Somewhere there’s a pic of me and my siblings in front of our AmVan with the stupid company logo plastered on the side. I heard the adult conversations in the 70s And late 60s, they were determined to remake the government into their own image. They mostly succeeded. We need a strong short game to be sure but there needs to be a serious remaking of a long term goal to take our shit back from these retrograde assholes.

Thank you for this. I’ve heard other versions—the cheaply made newsletters that were early versions of Fox News and the growing mailing lists that became the Tea Party. But I don’t think I’ve heard from someone who actually grew up in it.
