I assume that even with free universities, everyone won’t be interested in pursuing higher education. For those who want to do so, they shouldn’t be saddled with huge debts which take decades to pay off.

A girlfriend of mine who graduated from university in 1998 is still paying off her school debt and it’s a huge amount. She’s just thankful that it won’t be passed down to her children.
