It’s hard to describe how weird the NFT concept is: it’s like those Franklin Mint junky coins, and you get a CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY with it, but with NFTs you don’t actually own the coin, or even a picture of the coin, or the rights to do anything with the coin. And the CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY is a URL that points to some rando site somewhere that could go away at any time. But hey, it’s worth tens and hundreds of thousands of bucks, right?

In other news, crypto is taking an enormous dump, because nothing says “currency of the future” like an energy-eating monstrosity with wild swings in value and huge transaction costs:
