Based solely on the account here (with all the according caveats; it’s WaPo, and the only first-person account of the words uttered comes from one of the complaining parties), it does sound like the airline crew may have overreacted.

The AP story said a TSA spokesperson said the pilot did the right thing. Of course, CAIR will strenuously object to that, but who gives a flying frak what they think?
