Some lies have great staying power, to be sure, but these are too crude and easily exposed to survive when the opposition has a fair chance to make its case (as it does now).
And yet, in two years, a majority of Americans will still believe that Democrats are weak on national security, that their taxes are backbreakingly high, that they’re safer with a gun on them, that the President is a socialist, and so on.
Repetition works. Only cultists will believe all the lies, but repeat them all often enough and most people will believe at least one or two of them.
