In a GOP gerrymander, they will make a large number of districts that are just safe enough for R candidates, while concentrating Democrats into a small number of ultra-safe districts.

That just the kind of situation that can blow up in the GOP’s face with a walking smegma dispenser like Trump as the nominee.

Those R+5 districts might not be so safe any more.
