CNN had an expert on who rightly pointed toward the economic crisis over the last ten years and accessibility to guns contributing to spike in suicide, but a correlation that hasn’t been mentioned as far as I have seen is our 15-year-long war and the toll it is taking on soldiers and vets (that is also correlated with econ/gun issues, of course). That is also a significant contributing factor to the alarming rise in suicides.

The increase and reasons for it probably aligns with those for the increase in mass shootings. It’s just that Americans in general are going to shoot themselves as opposed to going on a killing rampage.
