I think with a more polarized electorate, you’ll need to get more support. The mere mention of the I-word gets people settled into camps.

Didn’t say you shouldn’t investigate and push hard; I just think you need to have pressure from a majority of the electorate before pulling the trigger.

But you’re not going to have the pressure so long as it looks to the public as though the problem will “sort itself out” next November. A good portion of the nation is content to just wait it out, figuring either Trump will lose next year and go quietly or he’ll win and thus prove that a majority of Americans are cool with his actions.
