The market has shrunk. No amount of re-orging or magic fairy dust is going to change that the USPS doesn’t have the market it used to have and never will.

However, people are still going to send dead tree stuff (and a lot of it) for the foreseeable future and the USPS, even with recent price hikes and service cuts, is still the most economical way to send much of that dead tree stuff.

Even when sending a simple letter, First Class postage is still a bargain compared to UPS and FedEx’s cheapest options.
