Comey should have kept quiet on both Clinton and Trump investigations until there was more known about both. Or he should have said that both were under investigation.

Saying Clinton was and Trump wasn’t when Trump clearly was is where Comey’s problems start.

To say Comey is a Clinton loyalist shows the pretzel logic behind all this. Comey’s actions clearly helped Trump and harmed Clinton. The effect to which might have been small, but sufficient to sway just enough people in just enough places to throw the election to Trump.

And that’s the problem. Comey did interfere. And he is trying to rationalize his actions as though it was for the greater good when his omission was an even bigger problem.
