Fun fact: Immediately prior to the Battle of the Bulge, German operatives went behind American lines in an attempt to spread misinformation and discord. They succeeded beyond their wildest dreams; Americans implemented strict security measures to try to prove the “American-ness” of the men passing through their areas. A general (can’t remember off the top of my head which one) was briefly detained when he couldn’t remember Mickey Mouse.
