ok, i guess i was getting bad info from the internet. some tech support webpage said you need to format it first or else windows install won’t think the drive is mounted
Even if the drive has no partitions, as long as it can load the proper SATA drivers and detect the drive, Win7 setup is just gonna see it as unallocated space and make you partition it.
